Dynamo approached us with an exciting opportunity to brand their new media startup.
At the time, they were in the midst of producing a season of explainer videos focused on the interconnected world of business.
Our design team was inspired by interconnected global industries and how a dynamo mechanically produces energy. These ideas serve as both as a design language for the show and a representation of the connected, evolving nature of the business world.
Design Element Inspiration
Drawing from the sharp angle in the bottom corner of the main mark, we applied this element to the design of our boxes. Specifically, we used a similar sharp bottom-left corner to maintain visual consistency.
Additionally, when the boxes are displayed as outlines, we incorporated a break in the design. This subtle characteristic, inspired by the logo itself, adds a unique touch that reinforces the brand's identity.
Color palette
We also expanded Dynamo’s color palette to include more colors to be used for elements like labels, maps and charts.
The package
We tackled the project with a tight deadline, delivering an animated ident, a short show open, and a range of assets including mogrts, labels, text elements, and a toolbox of pointers and indicators. We also created rigged After Effects templates for items like tweets, documents, containers, and a Geolayers map design.
In total, we delivered over 100 assets.
Great reception
In just two weeks, Business Explains the World snatched 1.6 million views thanks to the success of their explainer on the trucking industry:
